Status File for RATPAC September 12, 2014 Addition A beta version of RATPAC v2 is now available. The difference between versions 1 and 2 is that in RATPAC 2beta, the portion of the data contributed by the Integrated Global Radiosonde Archive (IGRA) is based on IGRA 2beta (see http://www1.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/data/igra/v2beta/igra2-readme.txt) rather than IGRA 1. While this change in the underlying data results in differences in monthly temperature anomalies at individual stations, particularly after 1997, hemispheric and global trends based on RATPAC-A annual temperature anomalies remain very similar in magnitude. The format of the RATPAC files remains unchanged, and stations continue to be identified by their World Meteorological Organization (WMO) number. One station, Pechora, Russia, underwent a change in WMO number from 23418 to 23415 in the 2000s, and therefore is identified by WMO# 23415 in RATPAC 2beta. RATPAC v2beta is available in the FTP directory http://www1.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/data/ratpac/v2beta/ or at ftp.ncdc.noaa.gov under pub/data/ratpac/v2beta. All other files in http://www1.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/data/ratpac/ as well as the webpages at http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/climate/ratpac/ will continue to reflect RATPAC 1 until RATPAC 2 has completed NCDC's internal review process and been approved as NCDC's official replacement of RATPAC 1. August 23, 2007, temporary fix of the problem reported on August 20: Data after 1995 have been restored. They are currently based on IGRA version 1.1 monthly means which will be replaced with the version 1.2 monthly means by the time of the next RATPAC update on September 6. The impact of this change on RATPAC is expected to be minimal. are currently not available because of a glitch in the processing of the IGRA data that serve as input to RATPAC. We will rectify the problem as soon as possible and notify users of the fix via the status file.
