Data Set Description: This is a subset of the Deep Sea Coral Research and Technology Program’s National Database. The data represent records of deep-sea corals observed or collected during video observations of the reef-forming deep-sea scleractinian coral, Lophelia pertusa collected during the Minerals Management Service (now Bureau of Ocean Energy Management) Lophelia II Project. The project was a study of deepwater hard bottom communities on the northern Gulf of Mexico continental slope implemented by a team of scientists under the management of TDI Brooks. The project included five cruises completed during the field operations phase. Changes to the original dataset may have been made to conform to the National Database Schema and for quality control purposes.
