Data Set Description: This is a subset of the Deep Sea Coral Research and Technology Program’s National Database. The data represent selected deep-sea coral records collected during the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management project: Exploration and Research of Mid-Atlantic Deepwater Hard Bottom Habitats and Shipwrecks with Emphasis on Canyons and Coral Communities. The overall objective of this study was to conduct an extensive multidisciplinary investigation of hard and soft substrate habitats and associated communities, and archaeological sites off Virginia and Maryland within and adjacent to Baltimore and Norfolk canyons. Two ROV sampling research cruises (2012 and 2013) were conducted. Changes to the original dataset may have been made to conform to the National Database Schema and for quality control purposes.
