Data Set Description: This is a subset of the Deep Sea Coral Research and Technology Program’s National Database. The data represent records of selected deep-sea corals observed during 2016 ROV surveys aboard the R/V Ocean Inspector. The purpose of the surveys was to use high-definition imagery to quantify the impact and assess the recovery of deep-sea corals that were affected by the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. These records do not represent all corals observed on the surveys. This work was funded by the Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative to support the ECOGIG (Ecosystem Impacts of Oil and Gas Inputs to the Gulf) project. Changes to the original dataset may have been made to conform to the National Database Schema and for quality control purposes.
