Data Set Description: This is a subset of the Deep Sea Coral Research and Technology Program’s National Database. The data represent selected specimens of deep-sea sponges, primarily Leiodermatium sp. collected by submersible during dives in 2008 off Southeast Florida. A primary goal of the expedition was collections of marine organisms that produce chemical compounds with the potential to treat human diseases. Changes to the original dataset may have been made to conform to the National Database Schema and for quality control purposes.
