Data Set Description: This is a subset of the Deep Sea Coral Research and Technology Program’s National Database. The research objective of this cruise was to estimate densities of corals and sponges within the 50-500 m depth range. The localities surveyed were South Santa Rosa Island, South Santa Rosa Island, and Santa Cruz Canyon Changes to the original dataset may have been made to conform to the National Database Schema and for quality control purposes.
Collection methodogy details:
The research objective was to estimate densities of corals and
sponges within the 50-500 m depth range. We report video transect areas
30 -220 sq m. Density values are reported in colonies per sq m. Multiple
transects were conducted on each dive. The EventID is the dive number as
YY-JulianDate-X, where X is the nth dive of the day. SampleID is dive
number-transect number. Temperature is reported as an average value for
the transect.
