Data Set Description: This is a subset of the Deep Sea Coral Research and Technology Program’s National Database. The data were provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Northeast Fisheries Science Center, from their Benthic Habitat Cruises. Changes to the original dataset may have been made to conform to the National Database Schema and for quality control purposes. Observations are from Hudson Canyon cruises, recording cup corals, sea pens, and demosponges from bottom photos and videos (with good positional data) and from trawls (with more approximate positions): 100-300 m depth. Photos and videos provide density estimates in addition to simple presence/absence information.
