According to data from NOAA's Storm Prediction Center, during February, there were 25 preliminary tornado reports. This is slightly below the 1991-2010 average of 29 tornadoes for the month of February. Most of the tornadoes during the month occurred across the Southeast and Ohio Valley. The most active day was February 23, in which 9 tornadoes were reported from Mississippi to Georgia, as a cold front moved through the Southeast. There was minor property damage reported in Mississippi and Alabama. There was also one fatality and 19 injuries in Mississippi blamed on the tornadoes.
