According to data from NOAA's Storm Prediction Center, during November, there were 69 preliminary tornado reports. This is slightly more than the 1991-2010 average of 58 for the month. Most of the tornado activity occurred on November 29th in the Southeast in association with a slow moving, yet strong frontal passage. Based on preliminary data, over 50 tornadoes were reported on the 29th with an EF-3 in northeast Alabama. There were five tornado-related fatalities reported during November. For January-November, there were 971 preliminary tornado reports, with 128 preliminary tornado reports awaiting confirmation for September-November.
