Title: Quality Assurance statistics for AVHRR Pathfinder Version 5.2 L3-Collated (L3C) sea surface temperature(NODC Accession 011871)
Abstract: A data quality monitoring for PFV5.2 SST is developed based on the concept of a Rich Inventory developed by the Enterprise Data Systems Group at the National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC). The principle concept of a Rich Inventory is to calculate statistics for selected parameters in each data file(day and night daily in PFV5.2), store them in a database, and make them available to users and managers of the archive. Following statistics are calculated in QA monitoring: valid observation number, number of the observation with value over 3 times of standard deviation, mean, maximum, minimum and median. Above statistics are calculated in difference domains, e. g., global, tropics, middle and latitudes, and 22.5x22.5 (lon/lat) degree "chunks".
