The Ocean Archive System searches our original datasets as they were submitted to us, not individual points or profiles. If you want to search and retrieve ocean profiles in a common format, or objectively analyzed fields, your better option may be to use one of our project applications. See: Access Data

Title: | CHLOROPHYLL A and PHAEOPIGMENTS underway - surface data collected in the South Atlantic Ocean and South Pacific Ocean on the LAURENCE M. GOULD and NATHANIEL B. PALMER cruises LMG0203, NBP0104 and NBP0204 as part of the Southern Ocean GLOBEC project from 2001-08-03 to 2002-09-11 (NCEI Accession 0112638) |
Abstract: | This dataset includes underway - surface and biological data collected aboard the LAURENCE M. GOULD and NATHANIEL B. PALMER during cruises LMG0203, NBP0104 and NBP0204 in the South Atlantic Ocean and South Pacific Ocean from 2001-08-03 to 2002-09-11. These data include CHLOROPHYLL A and PHAEOPIGMENTS. The instruments used to collect these data include fluorometer. These data were collected by Kendra Daly of University of South Florida as part of Southern Ocean GLOBEC. The Biological and Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office (BCO-DMO) submitted these data to NODC on 2013-07-31. The following is the text of the abstract provided by BCO-DMO: Underway Chloro and Phaeo Pigments, Hull Intake Sampling Methods: Surface chlorophyll samples were collected from the ship's flow-through seawater system, which has seawater intakes between 5 and 7 meter depths on both ships. About one liter of seawater was vacuum filtered onto GF/F filters and passively extracted in 7 ml of 90% acetone at -20deg C in the dark for at least 24 hours. Chlorophyll fluorescence was then measured on a Turner Design Digital 10-AU-05 fluorometer calibrated prior to the cruise. Calibration Values Southern Ocean GLOBEC II - Nathaniel B.
