Title: Underway MET data collected on multiple GLOBEC Long Term Observation Program (LTOP) cruises aboard R/V Wecoma in the Northeast Pacific from 1999-2003 (NCEI Accession 0115223)
Abstract: This dataset contains meteorological, optical, and physical data collected on R/V Wecoma during cruises W0002A, W0004B, W0007A, W0009A, W0101B, W0101C, W0103B, W0107A, W0109A, W0111B, W0202A, W0204A, W0207A, W0212A, W0302A, W0304A, W0309B, W9907A, W9909C, and W9911A in the North Pacific Ocean from 1999-07-03 to 2003-10-01. These data include SST at 5m, Speed over ground, air temperature, barometric pressure, course over ground, humidity, radiation_l, radiation_s, sea surface temperature, wind_dir, wind_speed, and wind_speed_kts. The instruments used to collect these data include Anemometer, CTD Sea-Bird, Global Positioning System Receiver, Knudsen 320 BR deepwater echosounder, Thermosalinograph, and Turner Designs Fluorometer -10-AU. These data were collected by Dr William T. Peterson of Northwest Fisheries Science Center - Newport and Dr Adriana Huyer, Dr Evelyn Sherr, Dr Jack Barth, Dr Jane Fleischbein, and Dr Robert Smith of Oregon State University as part of the "U.S. GLOBEC Northeast Pacific (NEP)" project and "U.S. GLOBal ocean ECosystems dynamics (U.S. GLOBEC)" program. The Biological and Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office (BCO-DMO) submitted these data to NCEI on 2023-01-23.

The following is the text of the dataset description provided by BCO-DMO:

underway MET data collected on GLOBEC LTOP cruises aboard R/V Wecoma

Dataset Description: Underway MET data collected on GLOBEC Long Term Observation Program (LTOP) cruises (1998-2004) aboard R/V Wecoma. Data are preliminary. No error-checking or in-situ calibrations (except for salinity) have been performed. Underway temperature and salinity calibration information is listed in the sensor calibration table (PDF).

Supplementary information: Acquisition Description:
Beginning in April 1999, underway data acquisition system (DAS) files from R/V Wecoma were recorded in ASCII, and filtered by a perl script known as filterdas to calculate engineering units. The DAS files produced were comma-separated ASCII files, with one file per day at one minute sampling intervals. More information is available from Oregon State University about the Wecoma's DAS and the filtering script. BCO-DMO obtained the underway data from http://ltop.coas.oregonstate.edu/das.html

In this accession, NCEI has archived multiple versions of these data. The latest (and best) version of these data has the largest version number.
