| Title: | Physical trajectory profile data from glider blue deployed by University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth (UMassD) in the Mid-Atlantic Bight from 2018-08-06 to 2018-10-21 (NCEI Accession 0238800) |
| Abstract: | This glider deployment will be part of our continuing Investigation of Mid-Atlantic Cold Pool Dynamics: The Ocean Glider Component. The program goal is to measure the seasonal-varying 1km-100km features of the Mid-Atlantic Cold Pool. To do this, we will deploy glider BLUE for its Mission-10 from UMassD RV Lucky Lady at a site west of Gay Head Martha's Vineyard, MA (41 14.89 N,70 57.21 W). BLUE will be equipped with a CTD, optical measurements of chlorophyll, backscatter, and CDOM. Glider BLUE will saw-tooth its way southward toward the western corner of the OOI Pioneer Array glider domain and then southwestward for about 100km and then northeastward to its deployment location. We estimate that Blue will do this triangular trajectory 3 or 4 times in the 90-day mission plan. The National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) received the data in this archival package from the Integrated Ocean Observing System's National Glider Data Assembly Center (IOOS NGDAC). The IOOS NGDAC received the data in one or more netCDF files comprising an entire glider deployment. The data are measurements of physical oceanographic properties such as temperature, salinity, conductivity, and density. The IOOS NGDAC checked the files for compliance to their netCDF file convention, aggregated the files into a single netCDF file, and then submitted the file to NCEI for long-term preservation. |
