The Ocean Archive System searches our original datasets as they were submitted to us, not individual points or profiles. If you want to search and retrieve ocean profiles in a common format, or objectively analyzed fields, your better option may be to use one of our project applications. See: Access Data

Title: | Fish histopathology, CTD, marine chemistry, and other data from R/V LONGHORN and other platforms from Gulf of Mexico from 1965-11-15 to 1978-02-25 (NCEI Accession 8600141) |
Abstract: | This dataset is a collection of three kinds of data. The first dataset consists of files of Fish Histopathology data from the South Texas Outer Continental Shelf (STOCS) study in the Gulf of Mexico from July 1976 to December 1977. The ship used was the R/V LONGHORN. These studies utilized vertebrate epifauna, demersal fishes and gonadal tissue of macroepifauna and demersal tissues. The principal investigators were J.M. Neff and W.E. Haensley from Texas A&M, and S.A. Ramirez from University of Texas. This work was funded by MMS contract number 08550-CT5-16. The data is available in the F144 format of NODC for Marine Toxic Substances. The second dataset is the Hi resolution CTD data in the F022 format of NODC. The third dataset contains the files in F069 Marine Chemistry format of NODC. |

Note: Metadata for this accession were extracted from a legacy database maintained by the U.S. National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC). The design of the database did not exactly reflect the FGDC Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM). Principal Investigator (PI) and organization contact information accurately represents all available information from the legacy database at the time that this description was created. However, proper attribution of a PI to a specific institution or the role (submitting or collecting) taken by an institution may not be correct due to inexact mapping between fields in the legacy database and the CSDGM. Due to this uncertainty, the contact information was initially recorded in the Supplemental Information element of the CSDGM description. To develop more accurate metadata, NCEI reviews metadata for all accessions on an ongoing basis. Points of contact for this data set include: Contact info: Agency: QUANTUS, INC. PI: Haensley, W PI: 168 PI: 168 Address: address: NOT AVAILABLE city: OAK RIDGE state: TN postal: NOT AVAILABLE country: UNITED STATES In this accession, NCEI has archived multiple versions of these data. The latest (and best) version of these data has the largest version number. |
