Title: WATER DEPTH and Other Data from XIANG YANG HONG 14 and Other Platforms From TOGA Area - Pacific (30 N to 30 S) from 19851212 to 19860218 (NODC Accession 8600346)
Abstract: This submission is part of an inventory of People's Republic of China
(PRC) historical data and data from the first PRC/US Toga cruise. The
ship used was the XIANGYANGHONG 14. The format for the data is included
in the documentation. Three sets of data are contained in this
inventory. First set contains dissolved oxygen and ph value data from
the cruise in January 1986 and the data were collected by the First
Institute of Oceanography, PRC in the Tropical Western Pacific. The
second set contains marine meteorology data from the cruise from
December 1985 to February 1986. The data were collected in the Tropical
Western Pacific on the XIANGYANGHONG 14 by the South Sea Branch of the
State Oceanic Administration, PRC. Parameters included in this file are:
in situ atmospheric pressure; wind speed and direction; sea surface; air
and dew-point temperature; absolute and relative humidity; as well as
cloud, wind and wave parameters. The third set contains chlorophyll and
associated data from the Toga cruise December 1985 to February 1986.
This file includes the following parameters salinity, temperature,
depth, nutrients, chlorophyll, phaeophytin values, carbon fixation and
productivity index.

Supplementary information: Note: Metadata for this accession were extracted from a legacy database
maintained by the U.S. National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC). The
design of the database did not exactly reflect the FGDC Content
Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM).

Principal Investigator (PI) and organization contact information
accurately represents all available information from the legacy database
at the time that this description was created. However, proper
attribution of a PI to a specific institution or the role (submitting or
collecting) taken by an institution may not be correct due to inexact
mapping between fields in the legacy database and the CSDGM. Due to this
uncertainty, the contact information was initially recorded in the
Supplemental Information element of the CSDGM description.

To develop more accurate metadata, the NODC reviews metadata for all
accessions on an ongoing basis.
