| Abstract: | This accession contains drifting buoy data collected from 1987-09-01 to 1987-09-30 from buoys deployed by National Data Buoy Center, Stennis Space Center, Mississippi. Air temperature, barometric pressure, sea surface temperature, water depth and wind speed data were collected in the Indian Ocean, Mozambique Channel, North Pacific Ocean, Philippine Sea, South Atlantic Ocean, South Pacific Ocean and Southern Oceans (> 60 degrees South) as part of Tropical Ocean Global Atmosphere (TOGA) project. The data were processed by NODC and are currently available in NODC F156 Drifting Buoy Data file format. |

| Supplementary information: | These data files are in NODC F156 format. Documentation of this format and the codes used in this format are available in the about/ directory of this accession. Note: Metadata for this accession were extracted from a legacy database maintained by the U.S. National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC). The design of the database did not exactly reflect the FGDC Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM).
