The Ocean Archive System searches our original datasets as they were submitted to us, not individual points or profiles. If you want to search and retrieve ocean profiles in a common format, or objectively analyzed fields, your better option may be to use one of our project applications. See: Access Data

Title: WATER TEMPERATURE and Other Data from MULTIPLE SHIPS From World-Wide Distribution from 19600203 to 19691205 (NODC Accession 9400139)
Abstract: These data compromise the Kiel Atlas containing 2 files; indian1.dat, 2/3/60- 6/18/66 and indian2.dat, 7/20/60-12/5/69 of primary productivity data from the University of South Florida as received by NODC's Ocean Climate Laboratory. The data format is contained in the data documentation file; data parameters include: Ship, cruise, station, position, date, time, depth, transparency in meters, radiation in g cal/cubic cm. per day, zooplankton wet displacement volume at 200-0m, incident light as %, primary production rate as mgC/cubic meter, chlorophyll-a as mg/cubic meter, chlorophyll-c as MSPU/cubic meter or mg/cubic meter, phaeopigment as mg/cubic meter, total pigment (chlorophyll-a + phaeopigment) as mg/cubic meter, dry weight of particulate matter (seston) as mg/cubic meter, particulate carbon as mg/cubic meter, protein content of seston as mg/cubic meter, and astacin or non-astacin content of samples as mg/cubic meter.

Supplementary information: Note: Metadata for this accession were extracted from a legacy database
maintained by the U.S. National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC). The
design of the database did not exactly reflect the FGDC Content
Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM).

Principal Investigator (PI) and organization contact information
accurately represents all available information from the legacy database
at the time that this description was created. However, proper
attribution of a PI to a specific institution or the role (submitting or
collecting) taken by an institution may not be correct due to inexact
mapping between fields in the legacy database and the CSDGM. Due to this
uncertainty, the contact information was initially recorded in the
Supplemental Information element of the CSDGM description.

To develop more accurate metadata, the NODC reviews metadata for all
accessions on an ongoing basis.
