| Comments: | The Ocean Surface Topography Mission (OSTM) is a joint effort by four organizations to measure sea surface height by using a radar altimeter mounted on a low-earth orbiting satellite called Jason-2. The four mission participants are: National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (US NOAA), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (US NASA), Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales (FRANCE CNES), and European Meteorological Satellite Organisation (EU EUMETSAT). JASON-2 was built under direction from CNES. After launch by NASA, CNES and NASA transferred operation and control of the JASON-2 platform to NOAA. The Jason-2 satellite was launched in June 20, 2008. Submitted to ICES on 2014-06-04. |
