The Ocean Archive System searches our original datasets as they were submitted to us, not individual points or profiles. If you want to search and retrieve ocean profiles in a common format, or objectively analyzed fields, your better option may be to use one of our project applications. See: Access Data

Title: Physical trajectory profile data from glider sylvia deployed by Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) in the Mid-Atlantic Bight from 2018-08-02 to 2018-08-10 (NCEI Accession 0239598)
Abstract: This MARACOOS glider mission will survey the continental shelf and shelfbreak regions in the southern Mid-Atlantic Bight from Cape May, NJ down to Wachapreague, VA. The goal of the mission is to conduct mid-summer hydrographic survey of the MAB Cold Pool, quantify the water masses and the configuration of the shelfbreak front, and test the LISST sensor in a continental shelf setting. The glider is scheduled to be deployed on Thursday, August 2, 2018 and recovered on Monday August 20, 2018. The glider will be deployed near the 25 m isobath at off Avalon, NJ. It will then zig and zag down the shelf toward Wachapreague VA for recovery.

The National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) received the data in this archival package from the Integrated Ocean Observing System's National Glider Data Assembly Center (IOOS NGDAC). The IOOS NGDAC received the data in one or more netCDF files comprising an entire glider deployment. The data are measurements of physical oceanographic properties such as temperature, salinity, conductivity, and density. The IOOS NGDAC checked the files for compliance to their netCDF file convention, aggregated the files into a single netCDF file, and then submitted the file to NCEI for long-term preservation.
