Title: Currents, temperature, conductivity, attenuation, and sigma-theta data from moorings deployed in Santa Monica Bay from the platforms NOAA Ship McARTHUR, WILLIAM A. MCGAW, and ROBERT GORDON SPROUL from 1997-11-22 to 2000-05-24 (NCEI Accession 0067576)
Abstract: Very complex sediment-distribution patterns are found on the continental shelf of Santa Monica Bay. In the winters of 1998, 1999 and 2000, a series of moorings were deployed to understand how coastal ocean processes that move sediments change with location on the shelf. It was discovered that internal bores found near the shelf break have bottom currents strong enough to remove all the fine material in the region.
