Global Volcano Locations Database

browse graphicMap of all volcano locations
NCEI maintains a database of over 1,500 volcano locations obtained from the Smithsonian Institution Global Volcanism Program, Volcanoes of the World publication. The database includes information on the volcano name, location, elevation, volcano type, date of the last known eruption, and the certainty of Holocene volcanism.

Lineage information for: dataset
Lineage Statement This database was obtained from the Smithsonian Institution's Global Volcanism Program when the NCEI/WDS Global Significant Volcanic Eruptions Database was being developed in approximately 2006. The data are linked to the NCEI/WDS Global Significant Volcanic Eruptions Database. The data were obtained to provide accurate information on the latitude, longitude, elevation, type of volcano, and last known eruption of the volcanoes.
