This dataset includes biological, navigational and other data collected aboard the R/V Falkor during cruise FK171110 in the South Pacific Ocean from 2017-11-08 to 2017-12-17. These data include CONDUCTIVITY, CURRENT SPEED - EAST/WEST COMPONENT (U), CURRENT SPEED - NORTH/SOUTH COMPONENT (V), DEPTH - BOTTOM, DEPTH - OBSERVATION, FLUORESCENCE, HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE, LATITUDE, LONGITUDE, SALINITY, WATER TEMPERATURE, course over ground and speed over ground. The instruments used to collect these data include ADCP, CTD, GPS, bathythermograph - XBT, echo sounder and fluorometer. These data were collected by Kenneth Rubin of The University of Hawai'i System, and by Schmidt Ocean Institute as part of Underwater Fire: Studying the Submarine Volcanoes of Tonga. The Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO) submitted these data to NCEI as part of the Rolling Deck to Repository (R2R) program.

The XBT data submitted by the originator represent the raw data suite. A suite of navigation products produced by the Rolling Deck to Repository program is included in this accession, which include one high resolution, one 1 minute resolution, and one low resolution coordinate file. R2R provides a processed version of the CTD data. The ADCP data represent the raw data set. Post processed quality assessed data are not available in this accession.
