Purpose These data were collected by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory (NOAA-GLERL) and the Cooperative Institute for Great Lakes Research (CIGLR) (NOAA Cooperative Agreement NA17OAR4320152) to support NOAA-GLERL’s operational development of the Saginaw Bay harmful algal bloom (HAB) forecasts and to directly monitor microcystin concentrations within the ecosystem. We have conducted this discrete field sampling to ensure development of useful tools and technology for local managers, interfacing with end users- facilitating the translation of research into more effective decision-making and public education.
