Fig. 3. Repeated measurements of the total CO₂ concentration in sea surface (A) and in deep water (B) samples. About 50 sample bottles were analyzed over 50-day period during the expedition. Only 20 bottles were filled with a homogenized deep water sample and analyzed subsequently over a period of 13 days. The analyses of these samples yeld a mean value of 1965.2 ± 1.0 for the surface samples and 2262.2 ± 1.0 for the deep water samples.
