This dataset includes low resolution real-time physical trajectory profile data from glider sp029 deployed by Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) and US Navy/Naval Postgraduate School in the Coastal Waters of California from 2021-02-09 to 2021-05-27 for the Monterey Bay Biogeochemical Glider Observations project.

The National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) received the data in this dataset from the Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS) National Glider Data Assembly Center (NGDAC). The IOOS NGDAC received the data in one or more netCDF files comprising an entire glider deployment. The data are measurements of physical oceanographic properties such as temperature, salinity, conductivity, and density. The IOOS NGDAC checked the files for compliance to their netCDF file convention, aggregated the files into a single netCDF file, and then submitted the file to NCEI for long-term preservation. Data files may be either low resolution real-time or full resolution. Full resolution files are designated as "delayed" in the netCDF file name.

The data producer provided this summary: This dataset is comprised of routine deployments of two underwater gliders off the coast of Central California, inside or near Monterey Bay. Missions typically last several weeks, and include process studies inside Monterey Bay, or transects to ~250 km offshore from Monterey Bay. The gliders are equipped with a CTD to measure temperature, salinity, and depth, as well as biogeochemical sensors for dissolved oxygen, chlorophyll fluorescence or optical backscatter, and pH.
