This dataset includes low resolution real-time physical trajectory profile data from glider uvi_01 deployed by Rutgers University Center for Ocean Observing Leadership (RU COOL) and University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) in the Caribbean Sea from 2024-08-28 to 2024-09-20 for the Passive Acoustic Monitoring for Marine Mammal Stock Assessments using Gliders in the Caribbean: Filling a NMFS Operational Gap project.

The National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) received the data in this dataset from the Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS) National Glider Data Assembly Center (NGDAC). The IOOS NGDAC received the data in one or more netCDF files comprising an entire glider deployment. The data are measurements of physical oceanographic properties such as temperature, salinity, conductivity, and density. The IOOS NGDAC checked the files for compliance to their netCDF file convention, aggregated the files into a single netCDF file, and then submitted the file to NCEI for long-term preservation. Data files may be either low resolution real-time or full resolution. Full resolution files are designated as "delayed" in the netCDF file name.

The data producer provided this summary: PAM-equipped UVI gliders will be used for four approximately 20-day missions in USVI and Puerto Rico to collect Passive Acoustic data for marine mammal assessment.
