Oceanographic data from ships and buoys in the Northeast Pacific, Northwest Atlantic, Gulf of Alaska, and Southern Ocean collected as part of the Global Ocean Ecosystem Dynamics (GLOBEC) project from 1990 to 2004
This collection includes physical, biological, and chemical time series, profile, and other in situ oceanographic data from the Global Ocean Ecosystems Dynamics (GLOBEC) Northeast Pacific, Northwest Atlantic, and Southern Ocean programs. Numerous organizations collected these data from numerous ships, buoys and other observation stations, from 1990 to 2004.

Supplemental Information | GLOBEC, a study of Global Ocean Ecosystem Dynamics, was initiated in 1990 by the Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research and the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO, and incorporated into the IGBP Core Element structure in 1995. |
Purpose | To advance our understanding of the structure and functioning of the global ocean ecosystem, its major subsystems, and its response to physical forcing so that a capability can be developed to forecast the responses of the marine ecosystem to global change. |
