Aerosol Optical Thickness Over Oceans CDR

Configuration Item ID: 01B-04

The Aerosol Optical Thickness (AOT) Over Oceans Climate Data Record (CDR) provides an optical measure of aerosol column loading derived from the global ocean orbital pixel-level Pathfinder Atmosphere Extend (PATMOS-x) FCDR clear-sky reflectance.

It uses Advanced Very High-Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) instrument measurements at the 0.63μm channel prior to July 2025 and Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) instrument at the 0.64mm channel after June 2025. This dataset period of record is 1981–present and is available in daily and monthly intervals with a 0.1 x 0.1 spatial resolution.
